Apple’s App Store Offers an Array of Remote Access Apps for the iPad and iPhone.

This tutorial will show you how to:• Prepare your home computer for remote desktop access• Configure an iDevice to connect to your home PC

Preparing Your Computer

PHASE 1

In This Section You Will:•Install the Dynamic DNS Update Client (DUC) from No-IP•Create a No-IP account•Register for a free hostname and domain•Enable RDP on your PC

This will automatically update the No-IP DNS server every time your IP address changes.

Go to www.no-ip.com/downloads.php

Select Your OS and Download and Run the DUC Installation(The installation is simple, just accept default settings. This tutorial will show

the Windows installation and configuration)

After installation is complete, launch DUC

Click the link to create a new account

After your account has been created, activate it through the confirmation email they send you

Return to the DUC login window and log in

Click link to add a host

Log in to your account, then

Click Add a Host

Create a Hostname and select a free domain (your IP Address will already be entered) then click Create Host

Return to the Select Group/Hosts windows and your newly created Hostname should appear in the list. This hostname now will update every time your IP changes

Finally, you will need to enable Remote Desktop on your PC

Remote Desktop can be enabled from System Properties. The easiest way to access System Properties is to right click Computer (My Computer in XP and previous versions) in the Start Menu and select Properties. Once Remote Desktop has been enabled, select your local user

account or create a new user for remote access permissions

XP: Select the Remote tab and check the “Allow users to connect remotely” box

Vista and 7: Select Remote tab and select “Allow from any version” button

There are several RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) applications in the Apple App Store, each with varying options (such as right click ability, sound streamin, and

several others) and price. This tutorial will cover Remote Desktop Lite by MochaSoft (a free application)

Download RDP Lite on your iDevice

Launch RDP Lite and follow the instructions:

Click ConnectClick Ok

Press your configured session to connect
