What is Stress?
Combination of two simultaneous events
External stimulus: Fear, Anxiety, Blood pressure, Fast Breathing and Muscle Tension.
Internal reaction: negative feelings, threatening situations, a looming performance report and rush hour traffic.
The reason behind stress among workers?
Too much of Burden
Highly competitive market
Inflexible work timings
Lack of motivation
Less family involvement
What others did to avoid stress?
Less burden on individuals.
Provided yoga classes.
Conducted Stress Management seminars.
Provided rewards and bonuses.
Required to take a long vacation every year.
About Nigel
A 52 year old engineering executive at global oil company Britain.
Was suffering from Stomach ache, had dark circles under his eyes and was occasionally short of breath.
Also was under immense amount of stress.
At he same time his company was under geopolitical competitive pressure.
For past 15 years Nigel had suffered from high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
At last he landed in a Hospital.
What was happening to Nigel?
The Brain Moods Management has two limbic system : Open loop and Closes loop.
Open loop depends upon connections to other people.
And Closes loop transmit neurological, hormonal, blood pressure and electromagnetic messages among organs within the body.
In Nigel’s case his closed loop system was hijacked.
Stress is normal physical response that makes you feel upset or threatened in some way. It usually occurs when after an extent we are unable to cope up with pressure which led to physiological responses.
Stress isn’t bad always as it helps you to stay alert and focused. But beyond a certain point it can cause more damage to your health and quality of life than being helpful.
