Two Set And Forget Methods For Passively

Driving Traffic To Your Blog

What I love about these methods is that once you set them up, your work is done. This is every blogger’s dream come true: do the work once and then rip the benefits for the rest of your blog’s life span

I wish I knew more strategies like these two but talk is cheap unless you back it up with facts so let’s get to it.

Method #1: Claim Your Blog on Technorati. I have to give credit to Ms. Ileane from Basic Blog Tips for teaching me this method. At first I thought this would be just a waste of time but Ms. Ileane convinced me when she revealed the traffic results she got from Technorati.

After looking at her annual traffic report for one of her sites, she noticed that Technorati was the #5 traffic Source for Basic Blog Tips blog in 2012. Ms. Ileane shows you the actual stats in a video posted on her blog; you can watch the video here: Claim Your Blog on Technorati in 2013

I started to see some results after claiming my blog on Technorati as well so I can definitely certify that this method works.

The process of claiming your blog on Technorati is pretty straight forward. Sign up for a new account at Technorati.com and enter your blog details: title, description, RSS feed. Next, Technorati will give you a claim code you need to insert inside one of your blog posts in order for Technorati to verify that you’re the actual owner of the site.

Technorati requires that you write a new blog post so that the code will appear on the blog post and in the blog feed as well. You can do it this way to make sure you comply 100% with their rules or you can insert the claim code to one of your most recent posts. It works either way so it’s up to you.

Once they verify your site you’ll receive an email notification and that’s it, you’re basically DONE.

Method #2: Submit your Blog to Content Aggregators like AllTop.com. I have to give credit to Kim Roach from Buzz Blogger for sharing this method online. Kim is known as a traffic addict and she created this awesome article called 21 Untapped Traffic Sources where she mentions this great tip among many other awesome traffic strategies. I strongly urge you to check it out.

I recently submitted my blog to Alltop.com and it’s in my top 10 traffic referrers for the last 30 days. Created by Guy Kawasaki, Alltop aggregates the best information from around the web all in one place.

To submit you site go here: http://alltop.com/submission. You can get a good amount of traffic if you manage to get your blog listed on Alltop. Your site must meet the following criterias in order to get accepted:

> The RSS feed of your blog must work flawlessly. > The site must be in English. > The site must be updated on a regular basis. > The site should have enough original content. > The general quality of your site must meet their standards. > The site must not primarily promote a business. > The site must fit into an appropriate Alltop topic.

I want to say thank you once again to Ms. Ileane and Kim Roach for teaching me these awesome traffic strategies. I would also like to pat myself on the back for keeping an open mind and learning as much as I can from such excellent blogging professionals as these two
