11 Ideas to Jump Start Emloyee Engagement

Employee

Engagement

requires lot of

work to start

but it’s worth

it as the

benefits to an

organisation

can be

considerable

How can you improve your

employee engagement

strategy?

Hire enthusiastic, intelligent staff and encourage them

1

Intelligent people are not

necessarily always those

that have great CV’s.

If your new recruit is enthusiastic and intelligent they

should buy into the company’s ethos quickly and

be able to learn new skills to do almost any job

(within reason) you want them to.

Use Mentoring for Every New Recruit

2

One of the ways to make new recruits

more comfortable is to give them a

buddy or mentor from day one.

Increase Salaries

may attract the right staff,

reduce churn and associated costs, improve

customer satisfaction and ultimately turnover

Keep reminding your

employees what your

company’s mission and

values are

4

People need to be reminded of

why they are doing what

they're doing.

It’s important that you

emphasize, once in a while, what your company

stands for.

Early on in your company’s journey

you should have decided its

mission and values

Make sure you keep plugging

this message.

Encourage ideas,

innovation & recognize

them

them to

give you

ideas

at meetings

Set up

ideas

box

Recognise

and reward

staff for

going that

extra mile

If you

become personal with your staff it will reinforce their sense of value

to the organisation and their well being

Become good at giving and

receiving Feedback

7

A constructive feedback system

is a powerful driver of employee

engagement.

Give and Show Respect

8

The showing of respect to

staff, clients and suppliers

should be one of the fundamental blocks

your organisation is built on.

Delegate and empower your

employees

9

Let your staff

start to make

decisions

Give them

responsibility

and let them take

charge of aspects of

their working lives and

their information.

Actively encourage training

and learning

10

Know them well

enough so

that you can

challenge and

support them

if they want to

learning and

developing their

existing or

new skills.

Provide clarity

11

Make sure all your employees have

clear, well defined:

When instructing staff make sure they fully understand the

Conclusion

...this is all very well in practice but

as a SME manager I haven't got the time to put all of this in place!

Well, I hear you say...

This means

the discussions can be

limited to important

information not just

chatting about stuff like

schedules, booking

holidays and timesheets!

...use a staff management system that allows you

to free up some time, removes some

of the boring, repetitive and mundane tasks.
