NELA DUNATO

The work we create is not intended for the clients, but the users of that product.

design a solution that

solves the user’s problem

& makes the

client money

OUR JOB:

“Where did it go wrong?”

We’re not doing clients, or ourselves a favor by

offering multiple options.

“What do you like?”is the wrong question to ask.

MISTAKE #1

Trading leadership for hope

You can’t base your business on hope alone.

Fear of the unknownThe worst culprit for the

clients’ insecurities.

BEAT THE FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN WITH

TRANSPARENCY.

Explain how your process works, and how to provide

relevant feedback.

If you can’t explain it to other people, you don’t

understand how it works.

Lead your clients through your process so they can

imagine what it’s like.

Collect information in advance and reduce the need for feedback.

MISTAKE #2

Not presenting our work properly

You need to be able to support all your decisions with solid arguments that make sense to the client.

PRESENT YOUR

WORK IN CONTEXT.

PROVE YOU’RE A PRO AT EVERY STEP.

GET THE CLIENT TO CONFIRM

IN WRITING

Sell your solution to the client.

Be clear from the very beginning about

how you work.

“That’s great, but my clients would never agree to this.”

You need confidence in your work, and to present it as a benefit to your clients.

Just because it’s a standard practice, it doesn’t mean

it’s good for you.

REGULARLY TEST,

ITERATE & IMPROVE

YOUR PROCESS.
