Reporting
Hootsuite’s New Analytics is in Beta
Hootsuite recently rolled out it’s new analytics.
They currently have two parts – Overview and Boards
They are still in early beta.
They will augment or replace Hootsuite’s old reports system.
We’ve taken a look and we’ll show you:• Good things• Things we’d like to see• Costs
Hootsuite’s Old ReportsGood variety of reports across multiple platforms including:• Twitter• Facebook• LinkedIn• Google Analytics• Published content stats
You get some reports free, others you need to buy with expensive points.
You can build customized reports. Reports vary, some of good detail. Many
aren’t very interactive. They look old and are difficult to “explore” to find insights.
Hootsuite’s New Analytics – Twitter Dashboard

Hootsuite’s New Analytics – Twitter Followers & Engagement

Key stats, but current, and change over the selected date range are highlighted.
Bar graphs show daily stats in bars, and trends in lines. Previous vs. recent trends in colors.
Graphs are interactive. Mouse over elements to get summary stats

Hootsuite’s New Analytics - Facebook
A similar dashboard, and analytics data graphs are available for Facebook.
Hootsuite Boards Designed to track posts by user engagement, reach, clicks and referrals to get a deeper understanding of your fans and followers, and deliver social media presentations.
Hootsuite Boards - PricingBoards are a paid addition.
You can add them to your Hootsuite subscription
Costs:• $40 if you’re on annual billing ($480 per year)• $60 if you’re on monthly billing ($720 per year)
Note: If you’re on an annual plan, you can’t change to monthly billing to try boards. Hootsuite doesn’t allow you to change your billing structure until your next cycle, which, if you’re on the annual plan, is your annual renewal anniversary.
Hootsuite Boards – First Things First…
The first thing you need to do is add some boards.
Hootsuite Boards – Twitter Templates
You can add boards in seconds by selecting pre-built templates
Hootsuite Boards – Facebook Templates
There are templates for Twitter boards, Facebook boards, and comparison boards for Facebook and Twitter
Hootsuite Boards – Easy to Customize

Some things Missing• Currently only provides analytics for Twitter and Facebook – the
same capabilities should be added for LinkedIn, Google+ and Instagram.
• We’d like to see more ability to drill into content from graphs – for example, if there’s a spike in engagement, you should be able to see the posts published that day by clicking the line on the graph.
• For Twitter we’d like to see a potential reach (original reach when published + reach of retweeters) as this helps identify and engage influencers.
• Post lists should have activity hyperlinks so you can open curated content directly from the analytics UI making it easy to find and work with your best content sources.
Missed Opportunity – Service and Response Metrics
• We use Buffer for content publishing and Hootsuite for stream management, community interaction, and response.• Many brands use Hootsuite for this.
• There are currently no social service or response metrics tracked in the new analytics. We’d like to see those added and believe that is a feature many current Hootsuite users would pay for. We’d like to see:• Inbound volume• Response volume• Percent of inquiries responded to• First response time• Average response time
Conclusion• These features are in beta and are continuing to evolve.
• They need to add the same capabilities for LinkedIn, Google+, and Instagram.
• They really should add social service and response metrics and boards.
• There are some unknowns like what will happen to the old reports.
• They’re off to a great start, and are worth a look!
