Have you set your Marriage goals in 2017?Where do you want to take your marriage to

in 2017? This cannot be possible without setting goals

for your marriage. Goals are steps that you are going to follow in

• This is important for both of you.

• It is important to set goals both as an individual and as a couple. In other words, you should have your own set of goals as well as goals as a couple in order to thrive in a relationship. The Benefits of setting Marriage Goals

• 1) Pursuing your vision• What is important to you as a couple? E.g. – security, happiness, peace of mind, team

work etc.• It is more important that you have similar

vision and values.

• 2) Have a weekly schedule that you are comfortable with.

• This facilitates reviewing/working out your short-term goals.

• 3) Keep the goal setting process as simple as possible.

You need to have :• 1. Spiritual goals . • Your spiritual relationship with each other is

truly the core of your marriage and it enables all other areas of your relationship to work well.

• 2. Verbal goals• To experience true friendship and

companionship within your marriage you must be able to talk to each other. You must have the freedom to communicate your thoughts and ideas without the fear of ridicule or reprisals.

• a.) Attitudes: Do you have an arrogant or condemning attitude when you talk to your spouse? Does your attitude communicate bitterness or irritation?

• b.) Words: Are your words harsh and aggressive? Do you lie or use evasive words to avoid telling the truth?

• c.) Actions: When you communicate do you interrupt your mate or regularly finish his or her sentences?

• Do you try and dominate the conversation by your many words, or do you use the silent treatment to control your spouse? Are you good at blame-shifting when your spouse brings up one of your faults?

• This is major goal that needs to be set by every couple.

• 3. Emotional goals. • In addition to spiritual and verbal goals, you

must be able to connect emotionally with your loved each other. Can you share your deepest emotions with your spouse, or are you afraid to reveal how you feel to each other?

• 4. Recreational goals. • Having fun together is an essential element

of good relationship. You’ve probably heard the saying, “The family that prays together stays together.”

• 5. Sexual goals • To ever hope to enjoy the true sexual

relationship God intends for your marriage, you must establish and maintain relationship in all of the above areas.

• If you have little relationship spiritually, don’t connect emotionally, or find it difficult to talk or have fun together, it will be very difficult to enjoy a satisfying sexual relationship with each other.
