With over 1.3 billion active users per month, Facebook is the most popular social media platform in the world. It is also the second most visited website in the world, with Google being number one. Businesses can take advantage of this huge, captive and engaging audience, by using Facebook in a way to benefit them and their service or product. Here is our survival guide for Facebook...
1. Create engaging content
This one might seem simple, but it is paramount to post about topics that people will want to read and engage with. Facebook is slightly different to other social media platforms; in the fact that is it more personal and informal. People tend to go on Facebook as a bit of ‘light relief’ from work and to catch up with their friends, so keep this in mind when you are posting content.
2. Link your posts When you are posting content on Facebook about your website, include a URL. Facebook will turn this into a larger post with a visual, making it more likely that people will click and engage with it.
3. Use Images The most engaging content on Facebook (that will result in the highest click-through rate) are visuals. Use this knowledge to your advantage.
4. Ask Questions The best way to engage with your audience is to ask questions. Include a question on your post or even engage with someone else’s post – it will make you engaging, memorable and people will be more likely to network and connect with you.
5. Share exclusive content
If your business sells a service rather than a product, you could advertise in a similar way, ask people to get in touch with you for more details on a post or include a link to a page with more information.
6. Use shortened URLs
This can be done with web tools such as Goo.gl. Shortened URLs will make your posts look sleek and more appealing to your audience, which in turn will make it more likely to get clicked.
7. What time is it?Do some research and find out what time your audience is most active on Facebook. When you know this, you will be able to share posts accordingly to hit the largest audience.
Remember, Facebook is a place for fun engaging content with personality, don’t post anything that is too ‘heavy’ or ‘formal’ to this audience as this will be skipped over or even worse, ‘hidden’ or ‘unliked’. Good luck building your audience.
