What is a distributor?A distributor basically sends your film out into the world for the waiting audiences to watch. They decide where and when the film will show and they also promote the film. Firstly they have to determine how many copies of the film to make. The film is then previewed to prospective buyers. The film is then sent to the cinemas shortly before it opens. The cinema then shows the film and after people have seen it.

Our companyThe role of production companies are generally involved in helping the film to be produced, usually production companies for films provides the money setting a certain budget for the film and also can make decisions on what director, and actors can be hired. Our company is an independent British film company that rely on slow releases of their films. ‘Hot Ice Productions’ is a company we made up for our title sequence. Our company is not known for blockbusters but is known for releasing low budgeted films and giving a good amount of fund, so most of the films that is released from our company do not have flashy cgi. We’ve chosen that our film is independent since we have a small budget and typically filmed in a shorter period than a studio film. ‘Slum dog millionaire’ is an example of a slow release film, we would want our film to be released in the same way, with the use of word of mouth.

Funding's and titles Lower level projects such as our film is sometimes are financed by a producer and/or director of the film in part with other investors, or independently. The order we have decided place our titles is no random, we put is in the order that most title sequence have theirs, just so we follow and not challenge the codes and conventions. The name of the production company appears first in our title sequence, in our research of looking at other title sequences, it is usually placed at the start, then it is followed by the title of the film, we did not want to place the title of the film last since it would seem like a trailer, after the title is shown, its then the names of the actors, editors, producers, writers at the very end we placed the director since the director is the has higher importance
