Spiritual Danger

• Galatians 1:3-5 – the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave

himself for our sins to rescue us from

the present evil age ...

• Colossians 1:13 – he has rescued us from the dominion of

darkness ...

• 2 Corinthians 4:4 – The god of this age has blinded the

minds of unbelievers

Spiritual Danger

• Ephesians 4:25-27 – Therefore each of you must put off

falsehood and speak truthfully to your

neighbor, for we are all members of one

body. “In your anger do not sin”: Do not

let the sun go down while you are still

angry, and do not give the devil a

foothold.

• 1 John 3:7-8 – The one who does what is sinful is of the

devil

not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful

nature. For I have the desire to do

what is good, but I cannot carry it

out. ...”

Spiritual Conflict ~ Expect It! The Perniciousness of Sin

1. Truth Concealing

– Ephesians 4:25 • Therefore each of you must put off

falsehood and speak truthfully to

your neighbor, for we are all

members of one body.


2. Anger Masking

– Ephesians 4:26-27 • In your anger do not sin: Do not let

the sun go down while you are still


foothold.


3. Speck Inspecting

– Matthew 7:3-5 • “Why do you look at the speck of

sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.


4. Friend/Relative Protecting

– Luke 14:26-27 • If anyone comes to me and does not

hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple


5. Entitlement Expecting

– James 2:1-4 • My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious

Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism.

Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing

a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in

filthy old clothes also comes in. If you show

special attention to the man wearing fine clothes

and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to

the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the

floor by my feet,” have you not discriminated

among yourselves and become judges with evil

thoughts?


6. Motive Camouflaging

– Proverbs 6:16-19 • There are six things the Lord hates,

seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.


7. God Using

– 2 Timothy 3:1-5 • But mark this: There will be terrible times in

the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God - having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

Spiritual Leaders ~ Attacked!

• Zechariah 13:7, Mark 14:27

– Strike the shepherd, and the sheep

will be scattered.

• Ephesians 6:12

– For our struggle is not against flesh

and blood, but against the rulers,

against the authorities, against the

powers of this dark world and

against the spiritual forces of evil in

the heavenly realms.

Spiritual Victory ~ Live It!

• Expose the Darkness – Ephesians 5:11

• “But everything exposed by the light

becomes visible ...”

• Resist the Devil – Ephesians 6:10-18

• “... Put on the full armor of God, so that

you can take your stand against the

devil’s schemes.”

• Overcome the Delusion – 1 John 2:12-14

• “…because you have overcome the evil

one”
