BY MARIA LINDSAY BATH — Beres Construc- tion Co. is a general contractor that builds exquisite single- family custom homes with beautiful architectural designs and the highest quality mate- rials, according to Gary Beres, owner and president of the company. Beres Construction also has experience in building light commercial and retail proper- ties, subdivisions and equestri- an facilities. Beres said his father, John Beres, started the company in 1950, concentrating mostly on speculative home construction through the 1980s in the Akron area, when it was thriving due to the tire business. He added he started working for the busi- ness when he was a young boy and began full time in 1966. Beres stressed the company has the diversity of experience to do a variety of construction work. “We have been associated with high-end construction through the 1990s, but we do a complete range from $350,000 and up. Our niche is pleasing people and service. We take care of the little things to make sure that we maintain the Beres tradition of doing it right.” Most recently, Beres Con- struction built homes in The Reserve at Waterford develop- ment in Bath, which is geared toward empty-nesters and young professionals, as well as in the communities of Cop- ley and Richfield, according to Beres. “Now that the economy has slowed down some, we are diversifying and adding more remodeling work,” said Beres. Some of that work has been for previous customers in “Beres-built” homes, but also for customers who are look- ing to stay in their homes longer rather than move. Beres Associate Rob Eck- road, who serves as project coordinator — creating detailed drawings, estimates and propos- als — joined the company after working on the supply side of the industry. He brings remod- eling work experience and is a Certified Aging in Place Spe- cialist (CAPS) through the National Association of Home Builders, according to Beres. “Whether it’s altering, remodeling or updating, we are able to do it all,” said Eckroad. “We can make your home safer so you can remain in your home longer.” Beres Construction has won numerous first-place awards in various categories from the Home Builders Association Serving Portage and Summit Counties, according to Beres.
