Matthew 6:5-6

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

Matthew 6:7-8

And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Matthew 6:9-12

This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Matthew 6:13-15

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Prayer is more than a RELIGIOUS activity; it is living in a relationship with the Father.

Praying intimately is not about a religion we practice, but a RELATIONSHIP we hold.

Prayer is not about IMPRESSING others or God.

Jesus doesn’t condemn public prayer, but the MOTIVE of being noticed.

Prayer is about DEVELOPING your walk with God.

“Abba, Father” communicates an INTIMACY with God.

Page 6: Bring back that lovin' feeling part 3 (disciples pray intimately)

Praying intimately recognizes our DEPENDENCE on God.

Notice the transition from God’s Kingdom to my DAILY needs.

“Give us our daily bread” reflects the NECESSITIES of life.

Praying intimately is praying with POWER; not because of our words, but the God who answers.

Victory doesn’t mean that we always get what we pray for, but that we find the STRENGTH to follow the will of God.

The power of prayer is not determined by length but our GOD.
