The truth…

Evolution IS the cause of the development of mankind.

*

Creationism is disproved by several theories and actualities within the

scientific realm.

CREATIONISM?

• Creationism is the belief that all life and the Earth are created by the absolute Creator, God.

• This is believed by Christians, Jewish, and Muslim followers of religion.

• Creationism in other terms is taking the Bible into literal terms, especially in the early Genesis chapters.

• Creationists pride themselves on being traditional, present-day, truth-bearers following the Bible to an extreme in terms of life.

Adam and Eve

• According to the Bible, Adam and Eve were the first man and woman to roam the earth.

• Adam and Eve were created to care for His creation, and to populate the earth.

• “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth…”

• After the seventh day, the Lord Cog formed man out of clay from the ground and called him Adam.

• God put Adam into a deep sleep and took one of his ribs. With this rib he formed woman, Eve.

Pastor Hemway’s Take on Creationism

• George Hemway is the pastor of the Trinity Church of Nazarene.

• The Nazarene Church is an Evangelical Holiness Church.

• Pastor Hemway believes that the Genesis chapters within the Bible are the factual accounts of creation.

EVOLUTION?

• Evolution is the process by which an organism becomes more sophisticated over time, in response to the environment.

1) Natural Selection:

allows abnormal organisms to survive changes in the environment.

2) Micro-Evolution:

variations within a kind

3) Macro-Evolution:

explanation for how billions of diverse species came to be.

DARWINISM

• Darwinism is a theory created by the scientist and philosopher Charles Darwin.

• Darwinism focuses on the natural selection theory and has several factors that allow us to question.

1. Probability and chance2. Nature, power, and scope of selection.3. Adaptation and teleology4. Nominalism vs.. essentialism about species5. Tempo and mode of evolutionary change.

Lamarck’s Bluff… Our Gain

• Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, another evolution philosopher, believed not in natural selection but in species choosing what traits and attributes to have.

• Lamarckian inheritance = problem.

• Darwin makes a point of competition between species; Lamarck believes in cooperation and toleration of each other.

• Darwinism states survival of the fittest; Lamarckian theory believes in making yourself fit.

Page 9: Creationism vs. Evolution2

What’s the REAL deal?

• The Bible states that God took one of Adam’s ribs to create Eve.

• All of Adam’s sons then, should have one less rib; leaving all men short a rib compared to females.

• If God created all on this earth, then how does that explain the millions of newly developed species found everyday?

• Lamarckian inheritance does not exist.

• Men and women have an equal amount of ribs: 24.

• Ribs are not a sexually-linked trait, like facial hair.

• So why would Adam’s sons be missing a rib and not his daughters?

What do YOU think??

• After reviewing the previous information, which argument is more agreeable?

• Is it fair to make this argument against religious beliefs?

• Would you say that your opinion of how things “came to be” has changed?
