Praying?

Parallel Bible passages in Mark and
Matthew relate the story about Jesus
interacting with the father of a demonized

What can we learn about deliverance ministry from this
encounter?
AandBCounseling.com
All Scripture needs to be studied for what it
reveals, how to interpret it and then, most
importantly, how to apply it.

The disciples, for whatever reason, were unsuccessful in their attempts to drive the
demon out of the man’s son.

The disciples had seen success. What was the
problem here?
AandBCounseling.com
Some contend that Jesus' superior power
and anointing were the difference.
Christ had given power and authority to the disciples, and

Was this particular demon power powerful than others and able to somehow
resist the commands to go?
AandBCounseling.com
There is no scriptural support
for that view. Some spirits are
more wicked than others.

He did not command the boy nor his father to go away
to fast and pray.2
Consider the sons of Sceva who were beaten up by a demon during
deliverance (Acts 19:11-20)

Prayer, fasting and other disciplines
help build relationship with the
Father.

Jesus had it, walked in it, and did not need to go off and prepare himself
for the encounter.

Power and authority to drive out demons has been
given to the Church.
AandBCounseling.com
We do not need to try to make ourselves “better”
or more qualified and worthy.
AandBCounseling.com
Jesus was warning against the folly of
Sceva’s sons who only used the name without
the relationship.

and prepare for deliverance.

We encourage them to fast, if the Lord leads
them to.
