Words on Marble

“We all are called to make disciples! There are only two kinds of people who cannot disciple, and that is one who is

not a follower of Christ and/or one who disobeys God's command and refuses to

disciple

Page 6: Finding purpose two jun 19

He didn’t die for us because we were good! His dying for us was in trust, not because of anything we had done, or any capacity we had.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still

sinners, Christ died for us” – Romans 5:8

Page 7: Finding purpose two jun 19

He didn’t die a normal death, it was a long, painful agonizing death. It was also a cursed death.

“4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” – Isaiah 53:4‐6

Page 8: Finding purpose two jun 19

You no longer have purpose – your new purpose is the purpose of the person who gave his life for you.

“If you don’t go all the way with me, through thick and thin, you don’t deserve me. If your first concern is to look after yourself, you’ll never find yourself. But if you forget about yourself and look to me, you’ll find both yourself and me” – Matt 10:38,39, ref Gal 2:20

Page 9: Finding purpose two jun 19

I expect my priorities to become your priorities. We become united in purpose, priority and life.

“We are intimately linked in this harvest work. Anyone who accepts what you do, accepts me, the One who sent you. Anyone who accepts what I do accepts my Father, who sent me. Accepting a messenger of God is as good as being God’s messenger. Accepting someone’s help is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I’ve called you into, but don’t be overwhelmed by it. It’s best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won’t lose out on a thing ” – Matt 10:40‐42

Page 10: Finding purpose two jun 19

All my resources are yours, not to keep and use for what you think is good. They are yours as you execute my purpose.

“The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I’ll do. ” – John 14:12‐14

Page 11: Finding purpose two jun 19

No matter how much you try, you can only achieve my purpose if you take time to understand and abide in me! The secret of fruitfulness!

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” – John 15:1‐4

+The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree

Luke 13: 6-9

He also spoke this parable:“A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. 7Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’ 8But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. 9And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that[a] you can cut it down.’”

How long for FIGS to fruit?
