Mission San Luis Rey Parish
A Note from Fr.Vince
All the Advent preparations have brought us to this glorious day celebrating the Incarnation of Christ, the
Messiah! What there is left for us to do is to savor the beauty of this day! Unlike secular society, our
Christmas celebration does not end with our dinner this evening. Join us at our upcoming feast days and
keep those Christmas lights glowing…we just can’t get enough of this most Holy Season! See the bulletin
online at www.sanluisreyparish.org for Fr. Vince’s complete Christmas message.

SACRAMENT of RECONCILIATION
Abide in God’s love. When we allow Christ into our lives and allow ourselves
to be with God, we will produce good fruit, even after difficult times of
pruning. When we bear fruit, we experience everlasting joy.

Moment
Rejoice always. Paul tells us in Philippians 4:4 to always find joy in the Lord. Paul wrote this while he was in
jail. He demonstrated finding joy at all times, not just when things were going
well. Rejoice in the Lord always.

In Today, we are reminded that God has given us a gift in the person of Jesus Christ. This gift
represents God’s active presence in our lives and in our world and redeems us from evil and
death. This is a gift that comes with an expectation: that we receive it with
thanksgiving, allow it to transform us into Christ’s image; and from it, learn how to live a
life “eager to do what is good.”

A Stewardship Moment
Lord, as we journey throughthis Christmas season,
give us the wisdom to begood stewards of this time of grace,
a time to be more prayerful,to listen more intently to Your Word.
Ask God for joy. During times of mourning and grieving, or times when joy is only a memory we must ask God to give us the kind of joy only God can
give. The joy of the Lord gives us strength, comfort, healing and hope.

Today’s Communion Antiphon
All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
(Cf. Psalm 98 (97):3)
Franciscan School of Theology FST is a Roman Catholic graduate
theological school, owned and operated by the Province of Saint Barbara of the Order of Friars Minor. FST students and alumni
provide for the poor; promote social justice; care for the suffering in homes and
hospitals; console the dying; provide comfort to the neglected in community
centers; teach and celebrate the sacraments in our parishes. They are – in
the spirit of Clare and Francis of Assisi – Christian witnesses in the world.

Thank you!
Did you know …..St. Francis of Assisi was an
enthusiastic champion of Christmas, the birthday of his
leader and Lord, his inspiration and companion.
In 1223, St. Francis created the first Christmas crib so that the people around the Italian
village of Greccio could have a first person experience of the incarnation of Jesus.
