Introduction As the author of over 20 books, Dr. Ronnie Floyd has been spreading the

Word of the Lord for almost 40 years, both through the written word and as the Senior Pastor of Cross Church Northwest Arkansas. While Dr. Floyd can call upon his wealth of experience when delivering sermons, new pastors need to develop their theological knowledge and understanding of how to engage their congregations before achieving a similar level of consistency. 

Pastors should make it a point to speak to church staff, particularly if they are inheriting it from another pastor. Not only does this help them get to know the people who will be helping them, but the information they provide can be useful in making improvements and understanding how to best communicate to the congregation. 

Secondly, pastors need to be aware that burnout is a real issue. The significant responsibilities pastors assume can begin to weigh them down at times. Pastors must match their spiritual maturity with an emotional maturity, and focus on physical well-being.
