How to use Christian gifts to

live a life of good deeds

Aside from the Christian gifts we receive through our faith and beliefs, does it sometimes seem difficult to stay positive, focused and keep that faith? Along with patience, forgiveness and tolerance, we are given many more Christian gifts that we can use to make a difference every day.

One person can’t

help everyone

Exploring how you can make a difference can sometimes feel overwhelming. It’s much easier to throw up your hands and give up. You are not the only who has ever felt that way. There are many examples throughout history of one person doing extraordinary things with the gifts bestowed upon them by God. Noah, Moses and even David represent simple Christians who performed extraordinary jobs because of their faith and courage.

The fact of the matter is, you

have lots to give

Anyone can look at the examples in the Bible and either get frustrated or get inspired to tackle a problem using the strength, courage and all talents given to him or her by God. Sure, you can argue that you have too much going on in your life to get involved. There are only 24 hours in the day, right?

The bottom line is this:

How you live is much more important than what you think you can contribute. It’s knowing how and when to share your faith and spirituality. Once you look outside yourself, you get a sense of the broader world and get a sense of where you can make a difference, big or small. Remember the words of Matthew-

You are the light of

the world.

A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Mathew 5:14-16

You have the opportunity to let God’s goodness shine through you. How do you do this? By using your gifts and living a life characterized by good deeds. Resist the temptation to simply do nothing because the task is too big and you are just one person. Remember you are one of God’s gifts and you have been called to share your extraordinary talents.
