•God has so wisely given us the command to sing Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Col. 3:16; Eph. 5:19

•We know the kind of music God wants in worship to Him. vocal – it is always to sing

•Sing: Rom. 15:9; 1 Cor. 14:15; Heb. 2:12; Jas. 5:13. Singing: Acts 16:25; Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16. Sung: Mt. 26:30; Mk.14:26.

• As we consider songs of “the Faith,” let us learn about songs in worship to God so we may truly praise Him. Heb. 13:15; 1Pet. 4:11

• In worship we practice: Col. 3:16; Eph. 5:19– God ruling in our thoughts and actions– Professing our faith aloud (we also hear it)– Professing our faith publicly (God also hears it)– Building our faith through being uplifted. (you & I)

• In worship we show God how much we love Him. Ps. 95:6; Heb. 12:28

• Singing is a tool through which we worship God. 1 Cor. 14:15; John 4:24– We must think about what we sing– We need to understand what we are singing

(saying) to God.– If we do not, then we are not truly worshiping.

• In singing to God (worship) we must also be sure we do so with Grace (favor) in our hearts to Him. Heb. 12:28; Col. 3:16

• Our bodies (lives) are to be offered as a living sacrifice to God. Rom. 12:1-2– (ESV) I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by

the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

• In worship we are doing something to serve God. Rom. 12:1– We are living sacrifices able to serve Him as long

as we live. (Can’t milk a dead cow, or shear a dead sheep). Jn. 9:4

– Spiritual songs 1) relating to the human spirit, or rational soul, as part of the man which is akin to God and serves as his instrument or organ. Thayer
