JAINTIA INDIA MISSION Church Growth & Development: We thank and praise the Lord that the churches in Khasi and Jaintia Hills are growing and that they are also taking care of newly planted house churches and smaller congregations. -The Umsalait Church is taking care of the Mawluber, Salait and Iooksi con- gregations. Our DLRMS Iooksi Teachers are also helping them. They are actively involved in reaching out in the area and the possibility of some more new 'house churches' is there. Please pray for them. -The Ialong Church is still being nurtured by the Jowai Church. Please pray for this congregation too, as they are a struggling congregation. They recently lost some members who had terminal illnesses, and it has been hard on some of the families, including the church family. -The Rymbai Road multi-cultural Hindi-speaking congregation, which has pro- gressed so much; but earlier this year, Bro. Tage and his wife - Martha had to return to Garuchira in West Bengal because of her mother's illness and old- age. So, the congregation is now being taken care of by the Jowai Church. However, language is a problem. So, we thank God that Sandeep - a Grade IX student of the North Liberty Higher Secondary School, is the translator for those folks who go from Jowai and also from Nonglatem. Sandeep is the son of Bro. Arun Subha - the leader of the Mookhep Church (also a multi-cultural Hindi-speaking congregation). Bro. Arun also serves as the Security Guard in the NLHSS in Jowai. These two congregations: Rymbai Road and Mookhep are in the coal-mining ar- ea. Presently there is no coal-mining allowed any more in Meghalaya. So, many of the folks who live here have been hit hard, economically. Please pray for these families, that the Lord will give them wisdom as they seek other means of employment in this area. -The Amjalong-Kerweng (Karbi congregation) on the border of Bangladesh is also doing well. These folks are really faithful to the Lord in spite of the many up-and-downs they face, from time-to-time. We always hear good reports of them and their faithfulness from those well-to-do neighbours, who provide employment for them in their fields and orchards. Praise the Lord! For their wonderful testimony. Please pray for them and the Area Church Rally that is going to be held on 30th November, 2014, that many may get the opportunity to hear the Gospel preached and respond to the call. -Please pray for the Wahiajer, Nonglatem, Mawrathud congregations as they reach to various new and small congregations in East Khasi Hills, interior are- as. -Pray for the Puriang, Kut and Mawryngkneng congregations as they reach out to the Ksehpongdeng congregation, where Bana was invited to conduct a memorial service for Kong Krial on14th October. It was because of her faith- fulness, in spite of being deaf, that this congregation is still there. Please pray especially for her youngest daughter and family as they remain faithful and draw others to Christ. Jaintia India Mission Newsletter November 2014

Church Growth & Development: We thank and praise the Lord that the churches in Khasi and Jaintia Hills are growing and that they are also taking care of newly planted house churches and smaller congregations.

-The Umsalait Church is taking care of the Mawluber, Salait and Iooksi con-gregations. Our DLRMS Iooksi Teachers are also helping them. They are actively involved in reaching out in the area and the possibility of some more new 'house churches' is there. Please pray for them.

-The Rymbai Road multi-cultural Hindi-speaking congregation, which has pro-gressed so much; but earlier this year, Bro. • -The Smit Liamthaw Congregation as they reach out to the newly planted congre-

gations at Thangsning, Thynroid, Ryngud, Sohra (Cheerapunjee), where Bana

    finished his high school.

-Please pray for the Nohron and Syntung congregations as they reach out to the

new villages and preaching points of Mynsang, Mawlang, Lynshing, Jatah, Pa-

shang and Umsaw War, along with Richard, Bah Shok, Bana and others. Praise

the Lord! These two congregations have grown in leaps-and-bounds since their

untiring involvement in evangelizing the surrounding villages.

-The Churches in West Khasi have also grown tremendously. The Mawkhriah

Church (East/West Khasi Hills Border) is into church planting and stabliza-

tion. They reach out on a weekly basis to Mawngap, Lad Mawpen, and

Thangmaw. They have a full-time evangelist along with Elders and Dea-

cons. Praise the Lord that they are able to spend about Rs.10,000/- per

month. The Mairang congregation works with them on the Thangmaw out-

reach. Mawkhriah and Mairang congregations are together trying to further

strengthen the church-planting and stablization program by taking the opportunity

to create awareness among the area churches during their monthly area ral-

lies. Please pray that the other congregations will also see the need and respond

    favourably.

Tent-Making - Contact Point: The Crystal Sound System is one of the recent

ways in which Richard is able to generate more support for various projects of the

JIM. It is also used for various Christian Conventions, Evangelistic Meetings and

our non-Christians friends also rent it, from time-to-time; providing a contact point

    and opportunity to witness.

The Schools: The NLHSS in Jowai has over 1500 students this year, and their

building program has been continuing for the past two years on local funds raised

    by the school.

The DLRMS has 164 students this year, as we did not add any

more grades this year. Somehow, through God's grace, we have been able to

manage the school. The donations we last received through our visiting friends

have been used towards the building of the Teacher's quarters at DLRMS - Iooksi.

    Oh, Happy Day!

We also praise and thank the Lord

for adding many members to His

    Church from the Villages of

Nonglatem (1), Jowai (3), and Wa-

hiajer (3). These are some of the

ones that come to mind as we are

    preparing this news late at

    night. They were baptized by

    Richard. There have been many

more during this year, who were

baptized by the different elders or

    evangelists of this area.

  • Teachers' Day is cele-

    brated every year in India

    on 5th September. It is

    the birth anniversary of

    the first President of Inde-

    pendent India - Dr. S.

    Radhakrishnan. It was

    also celebrated at

    NLHSS, where students

    had lots of good items

    for their teachers.

    Best Scout Master's

    Award: Risingstar Kharrngi

    - one of our senior teach-

    ers, who is the Headmas-

    ter of the Secondary

    School and is presently

    Officiating for Richard as

    the Principal of the

    NLHSS in his absence,

Felicitation Ceremony - HSLC and HSSLC: The Secondary and Higher Sec-

ondary State Board Examination results were very good this year with cent per-

cent graduating. The Felicitation Ceremony for them was held on June 14th this

    year.

da Lato, won all the 1st Prizes for the Creative Writing competition in both the

Block and District Levels. She also bagged the prizes for the best speaker in the

Ordinations: The Wahiajer Church in Jaintia Hills requested Bana, Bah Shaldrik

and Richard to ordain one of their elders on 29th June, 2014. However, they

chose to have Eliphas Mukhim ordained as one among the pastors (elders) of the

    church.

On 5th October, 2014, the Mairang Church invited Bana and

Bah Shaldrik Lyngdoh to ordain two elders and one more deacon, as they already

have 2. Both of these congregations are old ones, but could not find suitable folks

for elders all these years. We thank God that due to the constant teaching and

reminding them to set their churches in order, they have finally been able to do so.

-Please continue to pray for wisdom, patience and good health of the Uriah Family

    and co-workers.

-Pray especially for our Trainee Teachers in DLRMS - Iooksi, that they will qualify

    and dedicate themselves as teachers.

-Please pray too for the parents of the students of DLRMS as they have been af-

fected, economically due to the closure of coal-mining in Meghalaya. Pray too for

the parents of students in NHLSS because many of them also depend on the coal-

    mining business.

-Pray for the School Managing Committees of both DLRMS and NHLSS as the

take stock of the situation in the month of December 2014 and plan for the Year

    2015.

Once again we thank all of you dear loved ones for your faithful prayers and part-

nership in the extension of His Kingdom here on earth.

    Love, God's blessings and prayers,

Bnasan (Bana) & Marguerite, Richard & Larisa, and Helen Uriah
