Jesus is the Mercy Seat

Leviticus 23 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘The feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts. Convocation: (mik-raw) – holy preparation or rehearsal, prepare for a public performance

Jesus fulfilled the four spring feasts:

Passover Feast of Unleavened Bread Feast of Firstfruits Pentecost- Feast of Weeks

Fall feasts yet to be fulfilled:

Feast of Trumpets – Rosh Hashanah Day of Atonement- Yom Kippur Feast of Tabernacles

John 20:11 But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. 12 And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 Then they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.”

Exodus 25 God instructs Moses to build the tabernacle and the furniture Ark of the Covenant was in the Holy of Holies- God dwelled between the wings of the Cherubim Mercy Seat of pure gold to cover the ten commandments High Priest would sprinkle blood 7 times in front of the Ark but only once on the mercy seat

Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,

Romans 3:22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

Romans 3:25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Propitiation: (hil-as-tay’-ree-on) – an atoning victim, the lid of the Ark, the mercy seat

Grace is God working and man resting

- the deliverance from Egypt was pure grace under the Abrahamic Covenant - God brought them out despite sin, murmuring

Law is man working and God resting

- based on man’s ability to keep covenant - God gave the tabernacle and ark because He knew man can’t keep it

Hebrews 4: 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. 11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience... 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
