IMPORTANT OBJECTS AND SYMBOLSThe Shofar •A ram’s horn that is blown during the month of Rosh Hashanah and at the end of Yom Kippur.•Purpose is to remind Jews of the responsibility to ask forgiveness for their sins.
The Kippah•A small cap worn of the head signifying that human beings are beneath god•Some Jews wear the Kippah at different times or all day.
The Tallit*A garment worn during morning prayers. Most important part are the fringes.
*Jewish boys get a Tallit at Age 13, during their bar mitzvah.
CELEBRATIONS AND HOLIDAYSBAR/BAT MITZVAH Rosh Hashanah
• Bar Mitzvah is for a boy and Bat Mitzvah is for a girl
• Boys celebrate it at age 13 and girls celebrate at age 12
• When a Bar or Bat Mitzvah happens, they celebrate by having a huge party and they read part of the Torah.
Rosh Hashanah is the start of a New Year on the Hebrew Calendar
Represents the creation of the World or the Universe
Described as “the day of judgment”
Holy Places/Places of Worship
Holy place for Jews is in Jerusalem called the West Wall
Most Jews pray at Synagogues or other Religious places.
A Synagogue is also a Jewish community center where kids can study about the Torah

*A special accomplishment in life you achieve.
*A Jewish example is when someone gets a Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Rituals
*When Jewish holidays take place, many rituals are held
*Examples: In Passover, having a feast called Seder and drinking four glasses of wine are two major rituals
HOLY WRITINGS
The Most Holy Text in Judaism is the Torah.
It contains the 5 stories of Moses.
*The Jewish Bible is also a very holy book.
*It contains the 5 stories of Moses and the Old Testament.
Unifying Stories/Important People*A story that brings a certain group of people together and has to be witnessed
*Example is The Story of Abraham the Patriarch.(Shown Below)
Abraham was called “The Father of a Great Nation” because of a deal he made with god.
Jesus was also very important because he one of the many people Jews believed in

Jews believe in many things including the following:
Eating Kosher items To pray 3 times a day (Maximum) The Ten Commandments Don’t mix dairy product and meat together
(Wait 6 hours between)Cheeseburger containing cheese and meat Kosher Symbol
