STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT

At the conclusion of today’s gospel, we hear Jesus tell a “great crowd” that “…anyone of you

who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.” Surely the renunciation of possessions need not mean literally giving all

one’s possessions away, does it? Do our possessions keep us from encountering

Christ at Mass? Do they distract us from our family? Do they make us insensitive

to those less fortunate?

The Solemnity of St. Francis of Assisi will be celebrated on

Tuesday, October 4th.

Please mark your calendars now for a beautiful evening Mass at 6:30 p.m. in the Old Mission

Church followed by a reception.

During the Mass we will bless and distribute olive branches, as a reminder of St. Francis, the

Troubadour of God’s peace, and our call to be instruments of peace as well.



AUDIO VISUAL MINISTERS NEEDED5pm SATURDAY MASS

AV operators setup the microphones for the priests before Masses, checking batteries and

Ambo volume. Then during the mass, they operate the power point liturgy slides and any

videos that might be played at the end. Training is provided.

TERESA OF CALCUTA Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu , known in the world as Mother Teresa of Calcutta , was born in 1910 to Albanian parents (known today as Macedonia). In 1946, while traveling by train to the mountains, she suddenly realized that God was calling her to serve the poorest of the poor. She was beatified in 2003 and will be canonized TODAY , Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016.
