ਭਈ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਦੇਹੁਰੀਆ ॥ ਗੋਤ ਿੰ ਦ ਤਮਲਣ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਿੇਰੀ ਰੀਆ ॥ ਅਵਤਰ ਕਾਜ ਿੇਰੈ ਤਕਿੈ ਨ ਕਾਮ ॥ ਤਮਲੁ ਸਾਧਸਿੰਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥

This human body has been given to you.

This is your chance to meet the Lord of the

Universe. Nothing else will work. Join the

Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy;

vibrate and meditate on the Jewel of the

Naam. ||1|| 12

You are a wrestler

Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachment and Pride

are your opponents.

ਹਉ ਗੋਸਾਈ ਦਾ ਪਤਹਲਵਾਨੜਾ ॥ ਮੈ ਗੁਰ ਤਮਤਲ ਉਚ ਦੁਮਾਲੜਾ॥ ਸਭ ਹੋਈ ਤ ਿੰਝ ਇਕਠੀਆ ਦਯੁ ੈਠਾ ਵੇਖੈ ਆਤਪ ਜੀਉ ॥੧੭॥

I am a wrestler; I belong to the Lord of the

World. I met with the Guru, and I have tied a

tall, plumed turban. All have gathered to

watch the wrestling match, and the Merciful

Lord Himself is seated to behold it. ||17||

ਵਾਿ ਵਜਤਨ ਟਿੰਮਕ ਭੇਰੀਆ ॥ ਮਲ ਲਥੇ ਲੈਦੇ ਫੇਰੀਆ ॥ ਤਨਹਿੇ ਪਿੰ ਤਜ ਜੁਆਨ ਮੈ ਗੁਰ ਥਾਪੀ ਤਦਿੀ ਕਿੰ ਤਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੧੮॥ The bugles play and the drums beat. The

wrestlers enter the arena and circle around.

I have thrown the five challengers to the

ground, and the Guru has patted me on the

back. ||18||

ਸਭ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਇ ਆਇਆ ॥ ਘਤਰ ਜਾਸਤਨ ਵਾਟ ਵਟਾਇਆ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਤਖ ਲਾਹਾ ਲੈ ਗਏ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਚਲੇ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧੯॥

All have gathered together,

but we shall return home by different routes.

The Gurmukhs reap their profits and leave,

while the self-willed manmukhs lose their

investment and depart. ||19||

Path of Love

ਵੇਕੀ ਵੇਕੀ ਜਿੰ ਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥ ਦੁਇ ਪਿੰ ਦੀ ਦੁਇ ਰਾਹ ਚਲਾਏ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤਵਣੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਤਪ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥ He created the beings of different kinds. The

two travelers have set out in two directions.

Without the Perfect Guru, no one is

liberated. Doing Namm Jap, one profits. ||2||

ਗੁਰਮਿੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿੰ ਤਨ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ ਅਨਤਦਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਧਆਏ ਸਾਚਾ ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਤਹ ਨਾਮੋ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥ Through Gurmat, the Naam comes to dwell

within the mind.

Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the

Name of the True Lord, and earn the profit of

the Naam in this world. ||7||

God Thoughts

ਹਟਵਾਣੀ ਧਨ ਮਾਲ ਹਾਟੁ ਕੀਿੁ ॥ ਜੂਆਰੀ ਜੂਏ ਮਾਤਹ ਚੀਿੁ ॥ ਅਮਲੀ ਜੀਵੈ ਅਮਲੁ ਖਾਇ ॥ ਤਿਉ ਹਤਰ ਜਨੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਹਤਰ ਤਧਆਇ ॥੧॥ The shopkeeper deals in merchandise for

profit. The gambler's chit is focused on

gambling. The opium addict lives by

consuming opium. In the same way, the

humble servant of the Lord lives by

meditating on Har. ||1|| 1180

ਗੁਰ ਿੁਠੈ ਹਤਰ ਪਰਭੁ ਮੇਤਲਆ ਸਭ ਤਕਲਤਵਖ ਕਤਟ ਤਵਕਾਰ ॥ ਤਜਨਾ ਹਤਰ ਹਤਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਧਆਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥੨੯॥ The Guru, in His Pleasure, has united me

with the Lord God; He has cut away all my

sinful mistakes. Servant Nanak celebrates

the victory of those who meditate on the

Namm of Har, Har. ||29|| 1416
