DESCRIPTION
This week Glen looks at the Parable of the Vineyard owner as Session Three of our Naturally Supernatural series
Citation preview
Hi! My name is Glen.
Luke 11:9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will
be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks receives; the
one who seeks finds; and to the one who
knocks, the door will be opened.
Luke 11:11 “Which of you fathers, if your
son asks for a fish, will give him a snake
instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will
give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though
you are evil, know how to give good gifts
to your children, how much more will your
Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to
those who ask him!”
Big Idea #1
Matt 20:1 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a
landowner who went out early in the morning to
hire workers for his vineyard. 2 He agreed to pay
them a denarius for the day and sent them into his
vineyard.
3 “About nine in the morning he went out and saw
others standing in the marketplace doing nothing.
4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my
vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5 So
they went.
Matt 20:5 “He went out again about noon and about
three in the afternoon and did the same thing.
6 About five in the afternoon he went out and
found still others standing around. He asked them,
‘Why have you been standing here all day long
doing nothing?’
7 “ ‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered.
“He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my
vineyard.’
Matt 20:8 “When evening came, the owner of
the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the
workers and pay them their wages, beginning
with the last ones hired and going on to the
first.’
9 “The workers who were hired about five in
the afternoon came and each received a
denarius.
Matt 20:10 So when those came who were
hired first, they expected to receive more. But
each one of them also received a denarius.
11 When they received it, they began to
grumble against the landowner. 12 ‘These who
were hired last worked only one hour,’ they
said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who
have borne the burden of the work and the
heat of the day.’
Matt 20:13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I
am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you
agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay
and go. I want to give the one who was hired
last the same as I gave you. 15 Don’t I have the
right to do what I want with my own money? Or
are you envious because I am generous?’
16 “So the last will be first, and the first will
be last.”
Big Idea #2
1 Cor 13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of
angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding
gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of
prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all
knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move
mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I
give all I possess to the poor and give over my body
to hardship that I may boast, u but do not have
love, I gain nothing.
1 Cor 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does
not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It
does not dishonor others, it is not self-
seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no
record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in
evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always
protects, always trusts, always hopes, always
perseveres.
1 Cor 13:8 Love never fails. But where there are
prophecies, they will cease; where there are
tongues, they will be stilled; where there is
knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part
and we prophesy in part, 10 but when
completeness comes, what is in part disappears.
11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought
like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a
man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
1 Cor 13:12 For now we see only a reflection as
in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now
I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I
am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope
and love. But the greatest of these is love.
14:1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire
gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.
