Following Jesus in Luke 9:51-62
• I will follow you (v. 57)
• Follow me (v. 59)
• I will follow you (v. 62)
Resoluteness
Lahat ng mga tagasunod ni Jesus ay
dapat na buung-buo ang loob na
gawin ang lahat ng kinakailangan para
matapos ang misyong ibinigay niya sa
atin.
"Your duty is to go and preach about
the Kingdom of God" (Luke 9:60 NLT).
The Resoluteness of Jesus (9:51)
"As the time drew near for him to ascend to
heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for
Jerusalem" (Luke 9:51 NLT).
"Listen, we're going up to Jerusalem, where all the
predictions of the prophets concerning the Son of
Man will come true. He will be handed over to the
Romans, and he will be mocked, treated
shamefully, and spit upon. They will flog him with
a whip and kill him, but on the third day he will
rise again" (18:31-33 NLT)
The Rejection of Jesus (9:52-56)
“But the people of the village did not
welcome Jesus because he was on his way to
Jerusalem” (v. 53 NLT).
“When James and John saw this, they said to
Jesus, ‘Lord, should we call down fire from heaven
to burn them up?’” (v. 54).

birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place
even to lay his head.“ (vv. 57-58)
The Requirements of Jesus (9:57-62)
1. Resoluteness even in discomfort and danger.
2. Resoluteness even over family obligations and personal ambitions.
He said to another person, "Come, follow me."
The man agreed, but he said, "Lord, first let me
return home and bury my father.“ But Jesus told
him, "Let the spiritually dead bury their own
dead! Your duty is to go and preach about the
Kingdom of God.“ (vv. 59-60)

1. Resoluteness even in discomfort and danger.
2. Resoluteness even over family obligations and personal ambitions.
3. Resoluteness even over attachment to family
Another said, "Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first
let me say good-bye to my family.“ But Jesus told
him, "Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and
then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of
God." (vv. 61-62)
