Proverbs 21:16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

Those who leave the church and begin to live their lives according to their own will shall be

with the sinners and backsliders of this world.

They will not enjoy the abundant life that Jesus came to offer mankind.

Ephesians 2 1-2 And you hath he quickened (made alive), who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Ephesians 2 4-5 But God, Who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us (brought us to life) together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

1 Timothy 5 6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

To choose to live in the darkness of a sinful life, is to choose to experience a living death.

We all know people who live in sin, and we see how they end up so miserable:

unhappy, stressed out, down and out.But God gives His obedient children a good life,

having fellowship with Him and with one another.

One big, happy family.

17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

This is in contrast to the abundant life that is a result of living only for the Lord.

John 10 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

It’s ours to receive.

Galatians 5 22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

What more could anyone desire than a life filled with love, joy, peace and all that is

produced by the Holy Spirit of God.

Galatians 5:25 (KJV) If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

To live and walk in the Spirit of God is to live and walk

according to the Word of God with a willing and joyful heart.

The Word and the Spirit always agree.God gives us the strength and power of His Spirit

so that we can live this blessed life.

18 The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

The righteous is often delivered out of trouble, and the wicked comes in his stead, and so seems as a ransom for him.

Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary.

God delivers His children from the mistreatment of the transgressors, and

they seem to suffer in our place.

19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

Last week we saw that it is better to be in the attic, than in the house with such a woman.

Now we see that it is better to live in woods.
