REMEMBERING WHAT WE’VE
ALREADY LEARNED ABOUT TRACTION!
DAVID: His painful past
became a distraction
THE ISRAELITES: Their fear of the future
led to inaction
PAUL: His present struggles
created dissatisfaction
AND THEY ALL NEEDED TRACTION!
SOME IMPORTANT REMINDERS REGARDING TRACTION
Reminder 1: It sucks to be stuck, especially when you
are all alone
MY ISOLATION ONLY LEADS TO MORE
FRUSTRATION
Reminder 2: You will never gain
traction all by yourself.
WHEN YOU GO IT ALONE – YOU’RE ON YOUR OWN!
Reminder 3: To get traction you
need the right interaction
TO GET “UNSTUCK” YOU NEED THE HELP OF OTHER PEOPLE!
We belong to each other, and each needs all the others. (Romans 12:5 – Living Bible)
Help each other in troubles and problems. This is the kind of law
Christ asks us to obey. (Galatians 6:2 – New Live Version)
PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES FOR POSITIVE TRACTION
Two people are better than one. When two people work together, they get more work done. If one
person falls, the other person can reach out to help. But those
who are alone when they fall have no one to help them.
If two people sleep together, they will be warm. But a person sleeping alone will not be warm. An enemy
might be able to defeat one person, but two people can stand
back-to-back to defend each other. And three people are even
stronger.
They are like a rope that has three parts wrapped together—
it is very hard to break. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – Easy To Read Version)
The “combined effort”
principle
The “unconditional
support” principle
The “tangible
encouragement” principle
The “stand together”
principle
Companions as we are in this work with you . . . I heard your call in the nick of time; the day you needed
me, I was there to help. Well, now is the right time to listen,
the day to be helped.
Don’t put it off; don’t frustrate God’s work by showing up late, throwing a question mark over
everything we’re doing. Our work as God’s servants gets validated — or not — in the
details.
People are watching us as we stay at our post, alertly,
unswervingly . . . in hard times, tough times, bad times; when we’re
beaten up, jailed, and mobbed; working hard, working late, working without
eating . . .
when God’s showing his power; we’re doing our best . . .
(2 Corinthians 6:1-3, 7 – The Message)
WITH THE HELP OF GOD AND OTHERS
WE CAN GAIN TRACTION
AND RISE UP FROM WHATEVER IS KEEPING US STUCK
We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and
broken. We are perplexed because we don’t know why things happen as they do, but we don’t give up
and quit.
We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get
knocked down, but we get up again and keep going . . .
(2 Corinthians 4:8-9 – Living Bible)
