History

History is the study of human activity

in the past.

Prehistory (1)

The first men and women were

hunters and gatherers. They

constantly moved places to find food –

they were nomads.

Prehistory (2)

Later, they learned to grow crops and

settle. They made clothes from animal

skins and jewellery from shells, bones,

etc.

The Middle Ages (1)

From the first to the fifth century Rome

was a big power.

The Middle Ages (2)

Then the Roman Empire fell and the

Catholic church was very important.

Castles had defensive walls and

moats with a drawbridge.

The Age of Discoveries

Christopher Columbus discovered

America in 1492.

This began in Britain in the eighteenth

century. Manual work was replaced by

machines.

Railroads were invented for trains to

transport goods from the factories.
