Isaiah 9:1-7

Into Darkness, a Light

• This baby’s birth points to – a new beginning.– a renewed gladness.– a change in leadership.

• This baby’s birth was a welcome event.

John 1:1-2, 4-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He was with God in the beginning. In Him was life, and that life

was the light of men. …The light shines in the darkness, but the

darkness has not understood it.

Into a War Zone, a Hero

• This baby’s birth was a precious gift.– “to us”; given as a demonstration of love – “for us”; given as a satisfaction of need

• This baby’s birth points to – a new direction.– a new hope.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son,

that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Into our Life, God

• Isaiah 7 & 8 have highlighted His name, IMMANUEL and His Presence

• Isaiah 9 amplifies His name and Presence as – Wonderful Counselor– Mighty God– Eternal Father– Prince of Peace

John 3:17

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,

but to save the world through Him.
