• The Bible uses many symbolic pictures to describe what the Holy Spirit is like.
• He’s like the wind - you can not see the wind but you can see the effect of the wind and you can feel the wind.

• "The Spirit of God was hovering over over the waters." (Genesis 1:2)
• The activity and presence of the Spirit is like a hovering mother bird powerful and gentle, bringing new life into being.

• Jesus saw the Spirit suddenly fall upon Him like a bird swooping down from the sky.

Is the Holy Spirit a Person or a Power?
• The Bible makes a clear difference between the spirit of life from God that gives life to all living things and the Holy Spirit.
• The Holy Spirit is a person closely related to Jesus and God the Father.

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
• The Holy Spirit can bring us the power to do things that only God can do.
• “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. Then you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem. You will be My witnesses in all Judea and Samaria. And you will be My witnesses from one end of the earth to the other.”” (Acts 1:8, NIrV)

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
“Suddenly a sound came from heaven. It was like a strong wind blowing. It filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw something that looked like tongues of fire. The flames separated and settled on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit. They began to speak in languages they had not known before. • When they laid hands on other believers they too received the Holy Spirit.
