DESCRIPTION
Daniel's OT Vision of the 70 Weeks provides readers of John's Revelation with a valuable timeline along which to deploy John's NT vision's elements. The events that John chronicles do, in fact, occur within the OT's 70th Week; when we call the period 'The Tribulation' we thereby impress our Church-oriented slant on things.

XXVIII: TIMELINE FOR REVELATION
CONNECTION TO 70TH WEEK

TIMELINE FOR REVELATION’S NARRATIVE
I maintain that the events in Revelation
Chapters 5-13, as presented in the text, do NOT
roll themselves out in neat story order.
Nonetheless, there exists a timeline along which
these events play themselves out. In an effort to
bring this timeline into play, I will make use of
Sir Robert Anderson’s excellent(!) presentation
of Daniel.
This slide represents a ‘No hyperlinks for you till
Slide 4!” filler. So . . .well . . .Lenny had to put in a space-filler. And, yeah: I
run this place.

DANIEL’S 70 WEEKS
Daniel 9:24– “Seventy weeks have been decreed
for your people and your holy city, to finish the
transgression, to make an end of sin, to make
atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting
righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and
to anoint the most holy place.”
There exists a biblical basis for considering that this ‘week’ or ‘seven’ will last for 7 years of 12 months of 30 days each:
Jews use a lunar calendar in which a year consisted of 12, 30 day months.
Example: Genesis 7: 11+24, 8:3+4

GENESIS
7:11–Flood begins on month 2, day 17
7:24–Water ‘prevails’ for 150 days
8:3 –Water ‘recedes’ after 150 days
8:4 –The ark rests on month 7, day 17
Do the math: a 150 day interval of 5, 30-
day months fits perfectly into the formula.
THE FIRST 69 WEEKS
Daniel 9:25. “So you are to know and discern that
from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild
Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven
weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with
plaza and moat, even in times of distress.”
This period of 69 prophetic weeks has a distinct starting point, a point known to history!
The Start
THE FIRST 69 WEEKSDaniel 9:25. “So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to
restore and rebuild Jerusalem* until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks
and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of
distress.
* Nehemiah 2: Artaxerxes issues this decree to please his cupbearer, Nehemiah on 14th March in the year 445.
Sixty-nine weeks of 360-day years = 173,880 days
Reckoned from the 14 March 445, we arrive at 6 April A.D. 32
On 6 April A.D. 32, Jesus’ Triumphal Entry occurs. Only then did the crowds proclaim our Lord “Messiah the Prince, the King, the Son of David.”

THE END OF WEEK 69
Daniel 9:26–“Then after the sixty-two weeks the
Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the
people of the prince who is to come will destroy the
city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a
flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations
are determined.

The Protagonist . . .
THE 70TH WEEK
Daniel 9: 27 “And he will make a firm covenant with
the many for one week, but in the middle of the week
he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and
on the wing of abominations will come one who
makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one
that is decreed, is poured out on the one who
makes desolate.”

The End
There exists a biblical basis for considering that this final ‘week’ or ‘seven’ will last for 7 years of 12 months each with 30 days:
The 70th Week’s divisions repeatedly involve clean divisions of 7 years of 12 months each with 30 days.
Example: Bible’s treatment of second half of 70th Week gets described variously as 1260 days, 42 months, time, times and half-a-time.
These time units mathematically match 1/2 of a period reckoned as 7 years of 12 months each with 30 days.

The 70th Week’s divisions repeatedly involve clean divisions of 7 years of 12 months each with 30 days.
Example: Revelation’s treatment of Beast, witnesses, nations, Israel(the woman) etc
Dan 7:25–Fourth Beast blasphemes for ‘time,
times and half-a-time.
Rev 12: 6+14–The Woman (Israel) protected
for ‘time, times and half-a-time AND 1260
days.
Rev 11:2+3–Nations trample the temple for 42
months while 2 Witnesses operate for 1260
daysRev 13:5–Beast blasphemes for 42 months.
7 Years make up Daniel’s 70th Week . . . Its second half receives the focus of the Bible’s attention . . . that’s 3 1/2 years of The Great Tribulation, as Jesus in Matthew 24:21 puts it.
3 1/2 years, time, times and half-a-time,
1260 days and 42 months all mean the same thing if you figure a month always has
30 days.
7 Years make up Daniel’s 70th Week . . . Its second half receives the focus of the Bible’s attention . . . that’s 3 1/2 years of The Great Tribulation, as Jesus in Matthew 24:21 puts it.
At least that’s what I remember
learning back there in Pilgrim Sunday School. Math never was my strength,
you know!
So, here’s the timeline so far: a line representing seven years with a beginning point, an end point and a crisis-filled mid point.
On this backbone will we deploy Revelation’s visions and calamities.
The Prince who is to come makes a firm
covenant.
The Prince who is to come breaks the
covenant, perpetrates the Abomination That
Makes Desolate
The Prince who is to come gets totally
destroyed.
Revelation 19:20–
and the Beast was
seized, and with him
the false prophet . . .
Jesus in Matthew 24:21 describes the second half of the 70th Week in these terms: “For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.”

Seals, Trumpets and BowlsHow do these three judgments relate to one
another sequentially? I will depart from the
traditional view that one set of seven gives way to
the next set of seven. More importantly, I shall
explain why I do so!
