Early Lifeo In his early years, Zoroaster displayedgreat wisdom, arguing with wise men.o At the early age of 16, he displayedintense love and compassion for all livingbeings.o At the age of 20, he left his home, to leada life of purity and virtue. He spent histime in meditation and reflections. 6. Family Lifeo Zoroaster had three wives of whom the lastwas Hvovi (Good Cattle), the daughter ofKing Vishtaspas prime minister.o With his first wife, he had one son and threedaughters; while he had two sons by hissecond wife. 7. Vision of Zoroastero Around the age of 30, Zoroaster had a visionof the angel Vohu Mana, who told him adivine revelation from Ahura Mazda.o Part of the revelation included a drive tobecome an itinerant preacher for the newfaith. 8. Vision of Zoroaster o During the next 10 years, Zoroaster had other visions in which each of the archangels of Ahura Mazda appeared and revealed further truth to him: Vohu-Mana (love) Armaiti (piety) Haurvatat (wholeness or perfection) Ameretat (immortality) Asha (knowledge of the law of God) Kshathra (loving service) 9. Later Lifeo Zoroasters ideas did not take off quicklyand he only had one convert:Maidhyoimanha (his cousin)o After 12 years, Zoroaster went to thecountry of King Vishtaspa (in Bactria). 10. Conspiracyo The Kavis and Karpans, the chiefs ofdevil-worshippers, poisoned the ears ofKing Vishtaspa against the prophet andaccused him of being sorcerer.o They succeeded in convincing the Kingto put Zoroaster behind the bars andmake him die of starvation. 11. Saved by theLordo Zoroaster was put into prison forsometimes and was later saved by theLord, for he cured the Kings favoriteblack horse with the following conditions: The king would accept the new faith The king would consent that his son Isfendiarwould defend the new faith The king would allow to covert QueenHautosa The king would reveal the names of thosewho had plotted against him and punishthem 12. Death of Zoroastero According to tradition, Zoroaster lived for 77years, thus indicating that he died about 551BCE.o The manner of Zoroasters death is unknown.Some legends reported that he died peacefully,while others said that he was killed whilepraying.o The death of Zoroaster is commemorated inIran on December 26, known as Zarathust NoDiso. 14.
