TEAM WHEN DEFENDING Korona team defended with 1-4-4-2. Two wide midfielders Sobolewski(29) and Janota(10) were playing close to centre of the pitch close to two centre midfielders, from which Jovanovic(8) was the one sitting deeper. They do that to overload centre of the pitch and increase their chances to win the ball in this area.

Both centre midfielders Jovanovic(8) and Petrov(26) are determined with controlled aggression when they challenge to win the ball. However Petrov(26) is the one who sometimes dive in and commit more fouls.

Both Centre Forward’s – Chizniczenko(91) and Trytko(19) have defensive responsibilities and work as an unit. They press opposition Centre Backs when on the ball at 30-35m from opposition goal.

Distances between back four and midfielders are good , and its hard for opposition players like Quintana to drop into pockets of space (between defense – midfield ) to receive the ball there. However sometimes distances between Central Defender and Full Backs are too big.

Pavol Stano (17) is leading the back four unit, he prefers to stay close to opposition striker and sometimes follow him deep ( 40m from goal )to win the ball.

Page 12: Analysis- Korona Kielce 2013-2014

Both Centre Backs – Stano (17) and Dejmek(32) comes deep after opposition striker. While Stano(17) control his opponent and time his run– Slide 1 /Slide 3/Slide 4. His partner in defence Dejmek (32) is too late and commit free kick on opponent who had his back to goal in situation without danger – Slide 2.On Slide 3 Stano(17) intercepts the ball by timing his run in front of striker. Thats beginning of transition from which Korona scores.

TEAM WHEN DEFENDING

Page 18: Analysis- Korona Kielce 2013-2014

TRANSITION FROM DEFENDING TO ATTACKING

KEY PLAYERS:

● Janota (10) / Jovanovic(8) both really good on the ball.

● Malkowski(1) his distribution from hands its really good / he always look for quick long throw (45-50m) into Chiziczenko (91) or Trytko(19)

STYLE of TRANSITION:

Direct .Korona’s players are trying to quick transfer the ball into attacking third to strikers feet or into space in wide areas of attacking third for them to run into. / goal for Korona was pefect example of this style of play.

Korona team is dangerous when defending corner, they engage 3-4 players into quick transition after winning second ball from corner.

Page 19: Analysis- Korona Kielce 2013-2014

● Malkowski (1) start transition with long direct throw or kick towards Centre forwards.

TEAM WHEN ATTACKING

Korona team prefers to play counter attacking football. However they also feel comfortable enough in keeping possession with players like Jovanovic(8) or Janota(10) who are good enough to create advantage in middle third and mobile to provide support.

● both fullbacks – Golanski(44) and Sylwestrzak(2) work together with wide midfielders and are looking for opportunities to overlap to create overload in wide areas.

● Malkowski(1) always look to play long from back pass. He is not interested in playing with defenders.

Page 23: Analysis- Korona Kielce 2013-2014

Sylwestrzak(2) overlaps to create advantage in attacking third

Page 24: Analysis- Korona Kielce 2013-2014

TRANSITION FROM ATTACKING TO DEFENDING

KEY PLAYERS:

● Trytko(19) and Chizniczenko(91) defending from front or delay play when possible – keeper.

● Petrov(26) always stays behind the ball – he is first player to pressure the ball in the middle of the pitch after possession lost.

STYLE of TRANSITION:

They recover really quick after losing possession. Nearest player pressure the ball. They try to delay play as quick as possible to help player. Principle – WHOLE TEAM DEFEND.

Page 25: Analysis- Korona Kielce 2013-2014

DEFENDING FROM FRONT

● Trytko(19) delay opposition keeper to help his team mates recover into positions
