Students Peter Bang & Svend Olufsen (pictured below) started their fledging enterprise from a farm manor house and it was actually the farm’s chickens that helped them get their business off the ground. The sale of the chickens’ eggs funded the pair’s initial experiments and even contributed to paying staff wages as the company developed its first products.

The developments continued through the 1940s and the ‘50s; particular highlights being the company’s first television and a number of groundbreaking ‘combination’ products, such as televisions with radios and tape recorders with record players.
