Chelsea Arming Itself forthe 2016-17 Season

NicholasFainlight.org @Nick_Fainlight

The Eurocup is busy underway and it seems like the internationaltournament has relegated club football to a back seat. ForChelsea F.C. this is especially worrying, as their new coach

Antonio Conte is busy managing the Italian football team insteadof preparing his future team for the upcoming season. Not to

worry, the club is well on its way to sealing important newtransfers, and retaining future young prospects this upcoming

season.

Leonardo Bonucci

The first of Conte’s star transfers mayinclude Italian-back Leonardo

Bonucci. Conte is all too familiar withthe Italian national, having coachedhim in both international and club

play. The Metro reports that Bonucciand his representatives have agreed

upon a £130,000-a-week contractwith Chelsea, however have not

formally bought the player from SerieA giants Juventus. Chelsea is

expected to offer a whopping £32million in hopes Juventus will beconvinced to sell the 29-year-old

center back.

Alvaro Morata

Real Madrid has decided to useMorata’s buy-back clause in Morata’scontract and is certainly expecting ahefty sum for the Spanish talent. Outof the three Premier league teams –

Chelsea, Arsenal, and ManchesterUnited – currently competing for theplayer, it seems that Chelsea is the

only team with the financial flexibilityto pay for the hefty £60million sumMadrid is asking for. Morata remainsone of Europe’s finest young talents,

and is even reported to be scouted bynone other than Chelsea owner,

Roman Abramovich.

Kalidou Koulibaly (?)

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly isone of Conte’s top targets to fit intoChelsea jersey this coming season.

However Napoli has surprisinglyrefused to cooperate with the club,

rejecting a whopping £19.2million offerfor the player. The Serie A club wants

at least £11m more for the centre-back, and will continue to reject anyother offers failing to meet that sum.

Andreas Christensen

Quite the contrary to Koulibaly’s case,Chelsea is refusing to transfer young

talent Andreas Christensen. Accordingto the Daily Mail, Christensen has beenon loan to the Bundesliga as part of a

two year agreement with BorrusiaMonchengladbach. The German sideis emphatic to keep the Danish centerin their ranks, however the 20-year old

is seen as Chelsea’s naturalreplacement to John Terry.

Monchengladbach’s administrationhowever is “ready to make a record

transfer [for the player].”

Paul Pogba (?)

Noise is being made around theChelsea camp as more and more

rumors are connecting the club witharguably the world’s best young

player, Paul Pogba. Antonio Conte, who also coached the young talent in

Juventus, could play a determiningrole in the chance to see Pogba fit into

the “Blues” jersey this upcomingseason. However no offers on behalfof the club have been made, and thefrench international continues to be

tempted by other clubs.
