SKELEATAL SYSTEM

The bones used in hocky are obviously all of them but the main bones are long bones, short bones, flat bones, and irregular bones for all different types of movement such as running, hitting the ball with the gryphon stick etc.

MUSCULAR SYSTEM The main muscles used while playing Field Hockey are your Gluteal, Quadriceps, Hamstring, Adductors, Rectus Abdominis, and The Erector Spinae. You perform can hip extension when kick your legs backward and skate. When you perform this motion, you work the gluteal which is the largest muscle in the body. When you move your thigh outward whilst skating, hip abduction occurs.

ENERGY SYSTEMSField Hockey Involves 3 energy systems; ATP – PC Systems is used in hockey when players are taking quick and powerful shots(burst) and lasts up to 5 seconds. Glycolysis is when players are in the middle of a play such as carrying or chasing the ball and lasts 30 seconds to a minute. Cellular Respiration is when players go the same pace the whole game and also acts as a recovery time for ATP – PC Systems and Glycolysis. Field Hockey is aerobic fitness.

CIRCULATORY AND RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

Field Hockey needs the circulatory and respiratory system because the more times the player runs, they will run longer because the circulatory pulls the oxygen into the lungs and the respiratory system changes the oxygen to energy pushes it out. Therefore, the people who can run longer is because they an efficient cardiovascular endurance system, due to higher fitness level and the people who can’t run as long is because they have an inefficient cardiovascular endurance system, due to a low fitness level.

HYDRATIONIn field hockey hydration is important because if you aren't hydrated you won’t be able to concentrate and be very tired. Ways to prevent dehydration is to check the colour of you urine, if it’s yellow, you’re dehydrated and if it’s clear, then you’re hydrated. Other ways to prevent dehydration is to drink fluids – but not too much, avoid consuming caffeine and/or alcohol and stay in shady areas.
