JUDO
Judo is the popular sport in Russia. In fact, Russian President Vladimir Putin is fond of this sport.
Before 1914 judo in Russia was practically unknown, although some techniques are taken from books on self-American officer Hancock, were studied in the St. Petersburg police school since 1902.
In 1972, the judo Federation was created in the USSR. After 1990 the judo Federation of the USSR was transformed into the Russian judo Federation. Judo Federation of Russia is a member of the European judo Union, which as the continental division is part of the International judo Federation.
During Olympic Games 2012 in London Russian sportsmen have won 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals.
Famous fighters of Russia are Alexander Mikhailin, Vladimir Putin, Tamerlan Tmenov, Ivan Nifontov and Kirill Denisov.
