Famous people who were born or lived in Zrenjanin (most of them attended our school):

1. Todor Manojlović was born on 17 February 1883. He was a writer and an art theorist. He wrote a great number of poems, essays, articles and reviews that cover all areas of artistic creativity.

2. Zvonimir Vujin was born on 28 June 1943. He was one of the best boxers in former Yugoslavia, Europe and the world of the sixties and seventies. He won two Olympic medals in boxing.

3. Dejan Bodiroga is a Serbian basketball player. He won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in 1996, two World Championships and three European Championships. He is known for leadership and his ability to play in all positions. He played in the NBA League.

4. Vladimir Grbić (born on 14 December 1970) and Nikola Grbić (born on 6 September 1973) are two Serbian best volleyball players of all time. They have participated in several World and European Championships, as well as in a few Olympic Games and won medals in those competitions.

5. Jovana Brakočević is a Serbian volleyball player. She began to train volleyball when she was ten years old. Four years later, she debuted in the senior team (Zrenjaninski Postar). She was acclaimed as the best hitter in the European league.

6. Maja Ognjenović is a female volleyball player from Serbia, who was a member of the Women’s National Team that won the silver medal at the 2007 European Championship in Belgium and Luxembourg. There she was named Best Setter of the tournament.

7. Miroslava Najdanovski is a 2-time Serbian Olympic swimmer. Najdanovski represented Serbia and Montenegro at the 2004 Olympics. At only 16 years of age, she was the youngest member of the Serbo-Montenegrin delegation and also one of the youngest athletes to compete at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. She participated in one single event - the Women's 50 meters freestyle, in which she took 43rd place overall among 75 competitors with a time of 27.18.

8. Zoran Tošić is a Serbian footballer who plays as a left winger for CSKA Moscow. Born in Zrenjanin, Tošić began his career with his local side Proleter Zrenjanin. He then joined Buducnost Banatski Dvor, who then merged with Proleter to form Banat Zrenjanin. A year later, he signed for Serbian giants Partizan, for whom he played for two years before a high-profile move to Manchester United of England. After he struggled to break into the Red Devils first-team, he was sent on a six-month loan to German side Köln in January 2010, and was then transferred to CSKA Moscow of Russia that summer.

10. Nada Šargin is an actress from Zrenjanin, who was born on 19 January 1977. She graduated acting on the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. She is a member of the National Theatre in Belgrade. Her first role was in the film “Zurka”(“The Party”). She also acted in several other films: “Krojaceva tajna” (“The Tailor’s Secret”) , “Sutra ujutru” (“Tomorrow Morning”), “Vratice se rode” (“Storks will come back”), etc.

11. Branimir Brstina (born on 4 January 1960) is a famous Serbian actor. He finished elementary and grammar school in Zrenjanin. He graduated acting in Belgrade. He has acted in movies „Verenica“ (“The Fiancee”), „Zid“ (“The Wall”), „Dzoging“ (“Jogging”), etc.

12. Branislav Branko Milićević, or Branko Kockica, is an actor who is known for his shows and performances for children. He is also a director and a writer. Besides acting, he also studied English. One of his most famous works is a TV show ‘Kocka, kocka, kockica’, which was filmed and broadcast on TV Belgrade 1974. Milićević participates in the program, who, with a group of children, explores man’s environment and daily life.
