Introduction

John Sulzbach of Killingworth, CT, has served as the plant manager at Astroseal Products since 2005. In addition to his professional work John Sulzbach supports a number of organizations in and around Killingworth, CT, such as the Connecticut Tree Protective Association.

Connecticut Tree Climbing Competition

The Connecticut Tree Climbing Competition is an annual event sponsored by the Connecticut Tree Protective Association (CTPA). Each year as many as 25 climbers take part in the contest, exhibiting the skill and knowledge necessary to a safe and successful climb. The first-ever Connecticut Tree Climbing Competition was held in 2005. The 2014 edition was held early in May at New Haven’s Edgerton Park.

Conclusion

As always, the competition featured five unique events: the foot lock, throw -ne accuracy, belayed speed climb, work climb, and the aerial rescue. Kyle McCabe took home top marks in the men’s competition with a final combined score of 149.67, while Bear LeVangie led the women with a final score of 166.67.
