BARCELONA vs. ATLÉTICOLa batalla Español

Barcelona host Atlético Madrid in the first quarter final, at Camp Nou.

They would have been favourites in the fixture in the previous years, but not time. DiegoSimeone's men can take the fight to their Catalan rivals, as they have done in the league.

Messi & co. could find it hard to beat Chelsea loanee Thibaut Courtois in goal. But that is not their only problem. They also have to deal with Koke and in-form striker Diego Costa. The outcome would depend on the performances of Atlético’s defence and Barcelona’s attack.

Atlético, on the other hand, would aim for a positive result. Their main priority would be to avoid defeat and to try and score that crucial away goal.

Regardless of their league form, Tata Martino’s men would love to beat title-rivals Atlético and send a message.

MAN. UNITED vs. BAYERNTwist of fate

Manchester United overturned a 2-goal deficit against Greek side Olympiacos to reach the quarter finals. But luck doesn’t seem to be in their favour as they were drawn to face holders Bayern.

Bayern beat a strong Arsenal side themselves to progress, and are tipped by many to defend their title. They, along with Real Madrid, are the favourites to win it.

United can’t let their league-form affect this particular fixture as it would effectively mean no Champions League next year. They can not afford let Bayern dominate possession in the final third. Their counter-attacking football has to be at its best if they are to beat Bayern.

Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney hold the key to Man United’s fate against the defending champions. Because after this match, Allianz Arena beckons.

David Moyes’ future depends on the result of this particular fixture. They have already lost 6 home matches in the league so far. The Red Devils simply have to win this one.

REAL MADRID vs. DORTMUNDThe “Real” deal

Real Madrid are the favourites to challenge Bayern for the title. They scored 9 goals in 180 minutes against Schalke to book their spot in the quarter finals for the fourth year in succession.

Real would want revenge for last season’s painful 4-3 aggregate defeat at the hands of Dortmund. They are likely to edge them this time round.

While real humiliated Schalke, Dortmund struggled against a weak Zenit, eventually prevailing 5-4 on aggregate. The Bundesliga outfit would have to play out of their skins if they are to have a chance against Los Blancos. The arrival of manager Carlo Ancelotti and winger Gareth Bale has only boosted their hopes of that elusive 10th Champions League trophy.

Borussia’s Bayern-bound striker Robert Lewandowski needs proper service in order to breach Madrid’s solid defence. While Dortmund have stars who could shine, Real Madrid have the very best of them and it would be a tough ask for Dortmund to knock Real out for the second time in a row.

PSG vs. CHELSEAAn even contest

Chelsea are on a high after 4-0 and 6-0 victories over London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal respectively. They sailed past Galatasaray 3-1 on aggregate and are slight favourites to edge PSG in a tight encounter at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris.

They might not have the best XI in the EPL, but they do have the best manager. Josè Mourinho’s tactical brilliance has led them to the summit of the league table.

They have to be weary of the deadly attacking duo of Zlatan Ibrahimovic & Edinson Cavani, who would surely test the Premier League best defence.

The Parisians thrashed Bayer Leverkusen 6-1 on aggregate in the first Champions League knockout round.

It would be a nice match for the neutrals. While PSG like to dominate possession up field, Chelsea depend on their speed on the counter.

The final score would depend on two things really- A. How well Gary Cahill and John Terry cope with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and B. How well can the PSG defenders contain Eden Hazard.

So its PSG’s Possession Game vs. Chelsea Quick Counter
