DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

• Background:

Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in the EU generate ever-

increasing amounts of sludge waste.

The mining industries also generate large amounts of sludge waste

from the process of washing extracted aggregates.

Both sludges are produced in large amounts and need innovative and

environmentally friendly valorization processes.

Abstract: Valorization of sludges from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs)

and from the production process of aggregates, through their

transformation in lightweight aggregates, with application in the

construction and soil remediation sectors

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

Objectives:•Development of an innovator process for the obtainment of

lightweight aggregates from sludge wastes.

•Valorization of themselves is various applications.

Results: •Reduction of raw materials consumption and waste for dumps.

•Increase of Life Cycle Assessment of the materials.

•Development of a new sustainable productive process.
