Necto Training Module 11 : Notifier

Overview

Notifications are a way for the end user to easily schedule an e-mail notification for themselves.

You can get daily/weekly or other updates Data on refresh or exception Excel/PDF and live Necto link formats

Where can I find the Notifications?

The notifications button can be found at the top of the Necto screen next to the control panel button.

Each notification you setup is specific to a Workboard

New Notifications

Press the Notification Button to open the Notification wizard

Familiar interface with Public/Private and Shared notifications, you may also filter and there is a button to create a new notification, as well as from the menu.

You may also close the window if you do not wish to add or change anything.

Schedule a notification

Choose the data you want to include

Create conditions for notification

Activate the specific notification

Summary of the current choices

Alter the Recipients list

Give the new notification a name, then it is saved automatically and the wizard opens

You can notifications to be sent in Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthly or any sub increments

Notification data content

The data content can be shown in 3 major ways Link to a WorkBoard Link to View Static View

Link to an interactive WorkBoardLink to a view which will be generated on the fly so that data is correct at the time you click as PDF or Excel

A pre-prepared view delivered in PDF or Excel format

Notification Conditions

The conditions you can choose are 1 of three, to activate the exception condition, at least one of the views must contain a pre built exception.

Notification Admin Setup

For deliveries to work the Admin must add the SMTP Server (IP address)

Enable the notification services

All other settings are optional

Enabling the notification services also enables Discussion mails and mails to your administration on encountering an error.

Exercise Go to :http://<YourServerName>:4444/panorama/ Create a new WB under your private root- (Based on a cube

in your installation or see instructor for data source). Add an exception to the Workboard, save the Workboard. Create a new notification: Link & static PDF; When Exception

occurs; Send it to yourself and one other member of the class; edit the Email’s content.
