Cape San Blas Lighthouse


The lighthouse was used to guide vessels around the shoals running out from the Cape.



It used a sole beacon that could be seen for up to 10 miles offshore.

Having its original lens, the Lighthouse and its two Keeper’s Quarters remain a historic attraction.

Tropical Storm Isaac was the last blow in a series of storms that reclaimed the remaining shoreline forcing the lighthouse to close temporarily in 2012.



In honor of its historic and iconic presence on the Cape, the community chose to fund the relocation of the lighthouse to Port St. Joe to protect and preserve its heritage.



SEARCH, MLD Architects, and NCG teamed to prepare HABS/HAER documentation of the lighthouse.
