Terms and Concepts (A) Parallel lines: lines that belong to the same

family of graphs due to the fact that they share a common slope.

If two lines (l and m) have the same slope then they are parallel

l || m Determining if lines are parallel

Write each equation in slope-intercept form Determine the slope for each equation (m) and if

they are the same, then both lines are parallel.

Terms and Concepts (B) Perpendicular lines: lines whose

slopes, when multiplied together, result in -1.

If the product of the slopes of two lines is -1, then the lines are perpendicular

In order for a line to be perpendicular to another, its slope must be the additive multiplicative inverse of the other.

Ex. The line with slope m = 3 is perpendicular with the line with slope m = -1/3
