The ACP Secretariat and the Ambassadorial Working Group on the Future Perspectives of the ACP are pleased to invite composers and musical groups throughout the 79 member states of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group to submit entries for a common ACP anthem.

The anthem should embody the spirit, ideals and objectives of the Group. It will serve as a symbol of a common identity for ACP members and our joint goal of eradicating poverty and bringing about a more equitable world order, not only for the ACP but for all peoples.

The Working Group wishes to encourage the creative genius of composers and musicians to enhance in a symbolic and inspirational way, through music and words, the solidarity and unity of the ACP family of nations.

The winner of the competition will receive a prize of 5000 EUROS and a commemorative award. The anthem shall be featured at key high level ACP events.

Specific Instructions:

All entries must be in at least one of the four ACP official languages (English, French, Spanish or Portugese).

All entries must include written lyrics, and submitted in mp3 or wav format, playable on a standard CD player.

The lyrics and melody should be conceived, as best as possible, to capture the following:

Ideals of solidarity that unite the ACP family of nations;

Richness and cultural diversity of the ACP peoples;

Our quest for international understanding and commitment to the dialogue of

civilizations;

Respect for the values of democracy, human rights and the rule of law;

Commitment to just and equitable development, international social justice and peace.

Entries may be sent electronically or by mail to the attention of: Josephine Latu-Sanft (Press Office), Avenue Georges Henri 451, 1200 Brussels, Belgium/ [email protected]

Entries must reach the ACP Secretariat by the 31st of May, 2012.

A Panel of experts will be constituted shortly thereafter to select the winning entry, and the prize will be awarded to the winner. /
