Page vs. Post

What Pages Are • Pages are for content that is less -me-‐dependent than Posts. • Pages can be organized into pages and SubPages. • Pages can use different Templates. Example, Contact, Blog, PorHolio etc.
What Pages Aren’t • Pages cannot be associated with Categories and cannot be assigned Tags. • Pages are not files. They are stored in your database just like Posts are. • Pages are not included in your site's feed.
Page vs. Post

What Posts Are • Posts are the entries that display in reverse chronological order on your home page. In contrast to pages, posts usually have comments fields beneath them and are included in your site's RSS feed. • Posts can be sorted and displayed by categories and subcategories • Posts also u-lize tags
What Posts Aren’t • Posts are not page
Importance of Relevant Content

• Most important – reason for viewers to return • Google rankings – improve visibility
What is Relevant Content? • Information your target audience is looking for • Original writings, photography, artwork or research • If re-posting content, please site your sources • Plagarism (don’t steal) • copyscape.com – check copy you receive from clients!
Planning Parent / Child Pages

Just as you can have subcategories within your Categories, you can also have SubPages within your Pages, crea-ng a hierarchy of pages.
• Colors (parent page) • Primary (child page)
• Red (grand child page) • Yellow • Blue

To create a new Page, log in to your WordPress installa-on with sufficient admin privileges to create new ar-cles. Select the Administra-on > Pages > Add New op-on to begin wri-ng a new Page.

Getting Familiar with the Toolbar

HTML vs. WYSIWYG When wri-ng your pages and posts, you can use the visual or HTML mode of the editor. The visual mode lets you see your post as is, while the HTML mode shows you the code and replaces the WYSIWYG editor bu$ons with quicktags.
