CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTIONToday companies’ information security begins with

controlling access to PCs. Protect confidential data

and programs by accurately verifying and

authenticating PC users, and effectively preventing

unauthorized use. For private and especially for

professional users, since many companies have a

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy in the

workplace, information security is of paramount

importance. Security begins with controlling access

to personal computers in order to protect

confidential data and programs by accurately

verifying and authenticating PC users as well as

effectively preventing unauthorized use.

My favourite features on my flexible and

convertible 2-in-1 device -the Fujitsu STYLISTIC U704-

is the Biometric Fingerprint Sensor and the Face

Recognition. Check out my manual to get them set

up easily!

CHAPTER TWO

INSTALLATION

Installation of Workplace Protect

You can find the installation package

for Workplace Protect

• on the Internet at

http://fujitsu.com/fts/support

• on the current "Drivers & Utilities" DVD

• with DeskUpdate

Installation of Workplace Protect

You need administrator rights to install

Workplace Protect.

Proceed as follows to install Workplace

Protect:

► Depending on the operating systemplatform, double-click on the file

WorkplaceProtect32_Setup.exe or

WorkplaceProtect64_Setup.exe

► In the User Account Control dialoguebox, click on Yes.

► The Workplace Protect installationwizard is displayed.

► Follow the instructions on the screen.

► Confirm the license conditions.

► Enter the installation directory that yourequire or use the installation directory

given.

Installation of Workplace Protect

The Destination Folder dialog box allows

the installation directory for Workplace

Protect to

be modified.

The default installation directory is:

%ProgramFiles%\Fujitsu\WorkplaceProt

ect.

► Confirm with Next.

► Click on Install.The installation is started.

To complete the installation, you will be

asked to reboot the system.

► Confirm with Yes.The system is rebooted.

CHAPTER THREE

REPAIRING

Repairing of Workplace Protect

The Workplace Protect installation can be

repaired if it becomes corrupted, e.g.

because a required file was inadvertently

deleted. The settings and user data are

retained.

To repair the Workplace Protect

installation, proceed as follows:

► Depending on the operating systemplatform, double-click on the file

WorkplaceProtect32_Setup.exe or

WorkplaceProtect64_Setup.exe

The installation wizard starts.

► In the window Program maintenance,select the option Repair and confirm with

Next.

► Click on Install.The installed components are repaired, for

example, missing files are re-installed.

To complete the installation, you will be

asked to reboot the system.

► Confirm with Yes.

CHAPTER FOUR

UNINSTALLING

Uninstalling Workplace Protect

Uninstalling Workplace Protect using Setup

If you uninstall Workplace Protect, please first

export the access data for the Encrypted

Container and Password Safe applications,

because this data will otherwise be lost

► Depending on the operating systemplatform, double-click on the file

WorkplaceProtect32_Setup.exe or

WorkplaceProtect64_Setup.exe

► In the Program maintenance window, selectthe option Remove.

► Click on Next.

► Click on the message I'd like to proceedwith the uninstallation and confirm with

Remove.

Workplace Protect will be uninstalled.

To complete the process, you will be asked to

reboot the system.

► Confirm with Yes to reboot the system or

► To reboot the system later, click on No

Uninstalling Workplace Protect

Uninstalling Workplace Protect using

Windows

► Uninstall Workplace Protect as software,this process is described in the operating

instructions for your operating system.

A warning is displayed, that uninstalling

Workplace Protect will remove all settings.

► Confirm with Yes.

► If you have not backed up the settings,click on No to abort the uninstallation.

To complete the process, you will be asked

to reboot the system.

► Confirm with Yes to reboot the system.

► To reboot the system later, click on No.

CHAPTER FIVE

FINGERPRINT

SENSOR

Fingerprint settings

No fingerprints can be recorded for user

accounts which were automatically created

by i Windows 8 (Administrator, Guest). An error

message appears in this case.

► Under Security devices, click on Fingerprint.

A wizard with further information on the

functionality is shown the first time.

► Confirm with Next.

► When you are asked, authenticate yourselfto the system (see chapter "Making the

necessary

authentication in Workplace Protect").

► Select the finger for which you would like toperform an action.

► Click on the button of the desired action:

At least two fingerprints must have been read

in and stored before you can end the

configuration.

► In the menu bar, click on Security devices -Fingerprint.

► Select one finger by clicking in the circleabove the desired finger.

The circle above the finger will be marked in

blue.

► Click on Enroll.

► Draw the desired finger evenly over thefingerprint sensor.

Four successful recordings must be made to

complete the process.

The finger which has been read in will be

marked with a green tick.

► Confirm with Next.

► Repeat this process for the other fingerprints.

A summary of the settings you have made is

displayed.

► Confirm with Finish.

CHAPTER FIVE

FACE

RECOGNITION

Make sure there is good lighting during therecording.

The advanced functions of face recognition areenabled for a period of 30 days. To be able to usethese advanced functions after the 30 days haveexpired, please purchase a license key.

► In the menu bar, click on Security devices - Facerecognition.

A wizard with further information on thefunctionality is shown.

► Confirm with Next.

► When you are asked, authenticate yourself tothe system

► Select the desired WebCam.

► If you notice video lags on your system, checkthe checkbox Low resolution.

► Confirm with Next.

► Place yourself in front of the WebCam in theframe shown.

When the automatic recognition has completed,a configuration wizard is displayed offering further

settings options.

Face recognition settings

► Make the settings you require:

Advanced functions can only be used with a

valid license.

A summary of the settings you have made is

displayed.

► Confirm with Finish.
