The general definition of an intranet is an internal database which can be accessed by all team members within a company for the use of carrying out day-to-day tasks. It is a local and restricted communication network that is used by companies or organizations to share company information and computing resources among employees. However, some fear that the traditional intranet could potentially become a dead technology.

Social Intranets• Very similar to a traditional intranet
• Can be used for sharing documents and content to employees
