WITECH® Biomass Block Press BP 18FUNCTION OF THE BIOMASS BLOCK PRESS BP 18 To produce alternative energy made from biomass, such as
sugar cane waste, by densification process and formation of blocks sized 40 x 40 x 70 cm3.
The densification process uses mechanical or impact method that can cut biomass into short pieces and then shape the material into blocks of the same sizes.
USABLE BIOMASS FEED-STOCKS Sugar cane leaves and tops (Javanese: daduk). Rice hays, corn waste, and soya bean trash. Other long fiber and solid biomass such as coarse grass,
shrubs, forestry trash, bamboo tops and twigs, and the likes.

BENEFITS OF PRESSED BIOMASS Significantly cheap source of energy as it is made from waste. Irregular and huge volumes of agricultural biomass is pressed and
shaped into uniform blocks that make it easier to transport and storage.

POTENTIALS OF SUGAR CANE TRASH • Sugar cane areas in Indonesia in 2004 covered
341.621,7 Ha (Subiyono & Wibowo:2005). Sugar cane production totals 27 million tons a year.
• Proportion of sugar cane waste stands at 30 tons/Ha/year, meaning that as much as 19 million tons of biomass (exclude bagasse) is available in Indonesia per year.
• This huge potentials can boost the efficiency of sugar mills and also the economy of local inhabitants if it is utilized and not just be burned at fields.

and tops can replace fossil fuel (diesel oil, gas and coal) as feed stock for boilers.
The increasing supplies of fuel as a result of the utilization of Pressed Biomass will increase steam and electricity generating efficiencies.
The utilization of biomass can reduce the burning of sugar cane trash at fields and contribute to the promotion of renewable energy.
An opportunity to gain Carbon Emission Reduction (CER) facilities under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

PROSPECTS OF ELECTRICITY GENERATION FOR MILLS Replacement of boiler and steam turbine with higher pressured ones will increase generating capacity
and the electricity surplus can be sold to local or regional grid (Remodeling of Energy Basis). Construction of 10-MW to 30-MW power plant utilizing biomass fuel adjacent to mills will boost
sales arising from electricity that is connected to the power grid (Cogeneration).
